Down Voting Facebook
We’ve seen voting on plenty of platforms over the years, but it seems Facebook are looking at trying their hand at down voting (Thinking YouTube and Reddit as prime examples)
Down Voting in this instance is the ability to hide comments whilst giving you the opportunity to report the user for offensive, misleading or off topic comments.

At the present time the reaction of down voting has no impact of algorithms or placement on timelines etc. Instead it’s a test for Facebook to see what reaction users would use should the option be there. We’d anticipate that if this test does proceed then it would allow Facebook to see who the consistent offenders are and be able to take action accordingly.
We believe that the algorithms within Facebook (those that push the most relevant content to the top of your timelines) would be effected moving forward. Rather than seeing posts just because of the popularity of it (i.e. it’s likes and shares) the down vote button could secretly flag up as a negative and protect the user from so much negative press.
It’s all speculation as this is only a test, but its something to be aware of. We have seen platforms steal ideas or adapt ideas to their own platforms with what seems little point outside of keeping up with each other. But never underestimate the power of the user journey. Platforms must continuously try and find ways to please the audience whilst keeping it fresh enough for us to return time and time again.
Are You Ready To Start
Facebook continues to test and measure its platform looking for ways to keep it being used and being well received. As business owners you should embrace the changes and work with the team to find ways of maximizing the time spent. This down vote could easily not happen, but our predictions are that it will so why not
